Offering perhaps some of the best sailing in the world, the 605 nautical mile yacht race zigzags north as far as St Marten and as far south as Guadeloupe. The RORC Caribbean 600 Race circumnavigates some of the most stunning islands in the world; starting off Fort Charlotte outside English Harbour, Antigua. The course takes the fleet to the north passing a mark off Barbuda, the islands of Nevis, Saba and St Barths, to circle St Martin before heading down to Guadeloupe as the most southerly point, then back up to a mark off Barbuda before returning to finish in Antigua.
Organised by the Royal Ocean Racing Club in association with the Antigua Yacht Club, the race was first run in 2009 and attracted a fleet of close to 30 boats, including some of the world's most prestigious yachts. The most popular yachts competing were Swans which allowed for many close fought encounters right around the course. In fantastic tradewind sailing conditions of 25 knots, this 600 mile offshore race offers the same mileage distance as the Rolex Fastnet race, but in totally different temperatures - crew are in shorts and t-shirts!
Our suggested program for the 2011 RORC Caribbean 600 includes 2 days training off the coast of Antigua before the start of the race on Monday, the 21st February 2011. The 600 miles non-stop race should take around 3 - 4 days to complete. We have several boats available for this event and you can join us either as an individual or on a group booking basis taking a whole boat for the event.
