The Swan World Cup is a biennial event held at the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda and hosted by the Yacht Club in Porto Cervo, Sardinia. This prestigious event is the flagship for all Swan Regattas and has a firm place on the international yachting calendar.
In the 2010 Swan World's no fewer than 100 boats are expected. The week's event comprises of 2 days training and five days of racing in a mixture of distance races and the shorter but more hectic windward-leeward type courses. The fleet will race under the unique Nautor's Swan Rating system to enable the calculation of a final overall winner from the new and classic Swan yachts of varying sizes racing alongside each other. Winds can be high and the racing close, so this is very much a high adrenaline regatta. Skippers briefing can be interesting: with the likes of Paul Cayard attending you know that competition is going to be tough.
